Ellen's notes 28.10.08 and 5.11.08

by Ellen Kilsgaard

Incorporate: To make part of, integrate in-to the corpus.
Organize: including the word organ.

Habit become structure.
Before habit is an event.
Paths that are not ‘habit’ (deep paths) must be instinct or reflex.

Tension between chaos and order.

I think about frameworks for some things to happen. Something always happen, but maybe we just don’t see it right. thats why I think of frameworks.
Generous has generation in it. The word dynamic comes from power.

Generously movement happen – something given away generates dynamic movement. A dynamic system is a powerful system. Another economy. Circulation of power generates more power.
Re-cycling power.

Another kind of power that is not power over but productive of power.

Create something dynamic, something powerful. Balance between forming pattern and opening pattern up. Tension that is.

Resistance. There seems to be a need for limitation and resistance. Does that have to do with becoming visible. Manifest, matter here now, on a cellular level? Matter that is slowed down enough to become solid form. Is that you and me too, like the mountains and all the other stuff out there?

I question the term ‘body as instrument’ spoken by a dancer. It carves out and enforces the body mind binary way of thinking does’nt it? My body is not an instrument, I am not an instrument, I am a living intelligent organism, living moving thinking matter. I dance as I attend to this living fluidity.

I apply my mind to something and it gets a form. Form as in shape of energy.

Energy generated while dancing is an instant extra, surplus, multiplicity. If you create more energy than you need, what do you do then with the surplus?

Make a party.

We dance and I wonder:
Why is it that when we dance we often reduce ourselves to our inner worlds? When we talk we make something like a ping-pong between us. Our eyes go to someone when they talk, we spin the subject between us. When we dance we seem to only spin it within ourselves.
I wonder whether we are shy? Whether we are not used to read each other and let us be moved, also physically, by each other. Are we still thinking of our ourselves as original? We are reducing ourselves to be individuals and forget we are part of something?
Perhaps we are just shy. Perhaps we loose touch with our inside dancing in a social ‘niceness’ when we connect out? We somehow seem to get concerned with something? We need permission I think to try it out, I think we need permission and framing to make the leap into the relational embodied field.

I question: what happen if we let information come form without, from the other, as much as from within. It is an ethical and power-generating proposition. It is paradoxically both me and you at the same time. It is play. It is playing in a relational field. It is being separate and together at once. It is exchange itself.

Wasp mind swarm thinking:
Does the height of the ceiling affect us?
I would like not to undermine my thoughts and feelings.
Wind on hands.
Fighting to stay positive, struggle to stay positive
How brave does one need to be to be struggling?
How courageous does one need to be?
State of being lost and free at once while dancing.
Where actually is the co-dependency when we dance? Where does our co-dependency manifest in the flesh.
Intimacy between pleasure and power.
Does the bones of the dead under us resemble or respond to our bones here on the floor?
Resistance and blocks as a way of generation organization and therefore power?

There is energy in the universe and it is not going to avoid me.

What does harmony actually mean. Something that moves, in a certain way?

Invite the outside in. The outside is many things. What kind of outside do I invite in and choose to engage with?

How is problem solving taking place in dance? What if that way of dealing with the body could be transferred to the ‘social body’? What does that mean?

Finding a creative way out of the form so you are not trapped in it.

Shifting things around.
And what about suspending pattern, opening them up by loosening the identification to them. Suspending their seeming rigidity. Stepping away from things to create an in-between between them and me to allow for resonance.

Engage and detach at once.

Body is so full of information and details. Abundance. Sur-plus. Multiplicity. Overflow. It is generous, the body.
